The type of rental property available on Koh Samui is amazingly varied. For those people that live here and are more used to the Thai way of life, there are some amazingly cheap places to rent. Unfortunately they do not make for suitable holiday accommodation. To many people they might not even make the definition of accommodation. For a tropical island Koh Samui with a relatively new history of development has real choice. The real trick is to get good advice – what kind of area do you want? Is it peace and quite that’s important with a measure of luxury thrown in, or do you want to be near the thick of the action, with more emphasis on nightlife? The Cheweng area is the centre of all things nightlife, but might not suit your taste, even if you like to party.

There are compromises, but it is putting these requirements together and then pointing you at the exact area and type of accommodation you need. This all needs to tie in with your budget and you certainly don’t want to spend all your time researching these things.
