New Air Link For Samui

Posted by daniel in thailandsamuinewskoh samui

The business sector in Trang province has proposed an air link between Koh Samui and Trang to enhance tourism between the two destinations.

Salin Tothapthoeng, president of the Trang Chamber of Commerce, said the province has seen an increase in the number of tourists traveling by plane. At present budget airline Nok Air flies daily from

Bangkok to Trang and vice versa. Mr. Salin said that Samui and Phuket are two other ideal routes. The Chamber of Commerce, he said, would offer a five-year monopoly to any airline willing to open a route to other destinations.

The Trang airport can handle 3,000 passengers a day. Over 500,000 passengers use Trang airport every year. “Trang is a favorite destination of tourists from Malaysia and Singapore and it would be great if there are flights from Trang to Samui and Phuket,” Salin said. — Chat Anupan
