Thailand benefits from a reputation as one of the most attractive countries in the region, with several tourism subsectors, particularly beach tourism, having developed a strong brand image.

The government has committed itself to sustained levels of support for the tourism industry, and the future looks for the most part promising. A focus on improving transportation links and promoting Thailand initiative is expected to have hugely beneficial effects across the hospitality and travel industries.

The advent of low-cost airlines in the region will improve access to lesser known destinations in Thailand. A new international airport, Suvarnabhumi, opened in 2006, assisting Thailand in its ultimate aim to become the region’s aviation hub.
